Blackboard menus

This is the lunch menu at Zep, a charming restaurant in Florence.

After we sat down inside at the counter and asked for menus, the chef
gently led us back outside and pointed out the blackboard. He
explained a few things in English, and we went back inside to order.

While we were eating later, two American college students came in, sat
down at the counter and asked for a menu. The chef again led them
outside to the blackboard.

When a couple came in a bit later, sat down at the counter and asked
for the menu, the chef smiled at us mischievously, went outside and
carried the entire blackboard into the restaurant and held it in front
of the couple, to the background of our laughter. I wish I had a photo
of that funny moment.
