pudding - which our pleasant waiter said he had made himself.
Jell-O pudding isn't my idea of a tantalizing dessert, but my sister
had recently introduced me to the magic of coconut rice pudding. She
made it for her husband's 30th birthday - rice, sugar, coconut flakes,
milk - and I was in awe of how simple and good it was.
So... The coconut pudding, please!
It arrived as a slice with an exquisite marble pattern, not at all
what I had imagined.
And it was unbelievable.
Smooth, sweet, melt-in-your-mouth rich, sublime echoes of coconut.
I couldn't put my finger on the familiar taste. Was it French toast?
Sort of, but so much sweeter. It reminded me of... bread pudding! The
same lovely combination of egg and sugar and milk formed the basis, I
thought,
Sure enough, when our waiter returned to our rave reviews of his
pudding, he smiled and said teasingly, "I made it with eggs and sugar
and milk and lots and lots and lots of love."
Just the way I like my desserts. :-)
