Tomato rub-down

Bread comes regularly to the dinner table in Europe. At Can Majo in
Barcelona, the slices were wonderfully crispy and rubbed with ripe
tomato. Yum.

It reminded me...
A few weeks ago, in Norfolk, I was catching up with my friend Janelle
while she was prepping for a dinner party. She was grating tomato,
which I had never considered a very grate-able veggie. Oh yes, she
said, explaining that when she studied abroad in Spain during college
she would eat tomato on bread with sea salt for breakfast daily. Wow.
That's on my list to try when I get home...

probably rubbed with a clove of garlic first, right? Mmm, I love it.
