Rereading these posts, I think it must feel as though all we do is eat on the road.
This is not the case. I am simply fast-forwarding through hours upon hours of interstate driving. I skip the bathroom breaks. I spare you the torture of boring errands, showers, loading and unloading the car, parking, and getting lost.
Really, you are just getting the best stuff.
Which, if I have my druthers, includes most meals. (Not all, unfortunately. We just had a meh meal at Subway. Which is the first and last time I will mention a chain restaurant, I hope. Not that there isn't "value created" in consistent food manufacturing, but goodness, not much inspired there to write about, you know?)
And so it is, that we arrive at dinner in Minneapolis. I lucked out and now have a friend living in the city, Lizzie; she suggested we meet up at Black Sheep Pizza near Target Field.

It’s a little joint with a handful of little tables, a couple of local brews on tap, and assorted awesome toppings for gourmet pizza. Think smoked mozzarella.
First: I love the doodle of a sheep logo.

Second: Coal-fired, really? The friendly Minnesota dude behind the counter told me it was some sort of Pennsylvania coal. “I think it makes the crust crispier,” he said.

Lizzie recommended the meatball, ricotta, and roasted garlic pizza. ($11 for a small). Delicious, with a slightly crispy crust. The tomato sauce was bright and sweet against the salty, chewy, Italian-sausage-like meatball slices and dollops of ricotta. Mmmm.
