Stocked with wineries, the Virginia countryside tempts me every time a glorious Sunday afternoon rolls around. Should I work on my cases for Monday? Or escape 20-60 minutes away for a tasting and insight into another local winery?
One recent weekend, we indulged in a visit to DelFosse Winery. Check out the stunning view of the glass-walled tasting room, above, and from the interior, below.

Love the ducks!

We picked DelFosse out of the list because it has double the fun: winding trails behind the winery, free for hikers. We tried to do the tasting first and quickly realized we had the order inverted: hike in woods. Then imbibe.

Clearly marked, the trail leads you into the woods for several miles, though we simply hiked in and turned around when time dictated. Do be careful to wear bright clothes. We were there on the last day before hunting season began ...
Directions to DelFosse here. Tastings Wednesdays to Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., for a minimal fee.
Enjoy!
